A set solves the hardest part of buying swimwear, which is making a top and a bottom agree. Everything here arrives already matched, in one size run, so the decision comes down to the cut you want rather than the arithmetic of two separate orders.
We cut the full ladder of support here. At one end you have a string triangle that you tie to your own measurements. At the other you have an underwire set with real cup structure. If a set has removable padding, adjustable straps or a lining, we will say so, because those three things are what decide whether it can fit more than one body shape.

Which bikini top actually holds a larger bust?
Underwire and push-up styles do the structural work, and they say so in their names. A string triangle holds very little by design: the ties let you set the fit, but there is no frame under the cup. If you need support first and shape second, start with underwire.
Do the tops and bottoms come in the same size?
A set is sold as one size covering both halves. If your top and bottom halves take different sizes, the honest move is to buy a top and a bottom separately from the departments that carry them, rather than compromising on one number.
What does a triangle set do that a bandeau does not?
A triangle ties at the neck and back, so you can adjust coverage and lift on the day. A bandeau has no straps at all, which is better under a wide neckline and worse if you plan to swim rather than sit.
